Yep, I tend to discern two wars, essentially, instead of one that mainstream analytics draw from February 24, 2022.

First phase: late winter to early spring 2022, and the result of this war, “opening,” could be ruled as a spectacular victory of Ukraine despite additional losses of ca. 16% of your territory (could be much worse). Better to open ceasefire talks, write off sunk costs and begin a thorough error correction.

Instead, Boris Johnson et al. dictated them to switch to the second phase immediately, and it is this, “secondary” war, that keeps burning for almost three years. Sunk cost fallacy tanked Zelensky. His breakwater is inexorably crumbling away.
