There weren't any significant clashes around Kiev in late March and early April 2022. Russian troops simply relocated home and then reappeared near Donbass frontlines, where all hell soon broke loose. Just like in Kherson some half a year later. Ukrainian armed forces should count only Balaklea-Izyum operation as their loud and clear strategic success. There AFU enacted a very successful remake of Operation Fredericus from the times of WWII. The so-called counteroffensive was being, obviously, modelled after this crowning achievement; however, already in mid-June it became clear that the deathly trap has clicked around Ukrainians on Surovikin&Teplitsky's Flanders Fields.
