Their interests seem often contradicting, or at least, like a jigsaw piece, British interest doesn't fully fit in the scene.
But they surely have at least one common big goal complement to Cold War reenactment after Brexit: severing ties between Russia and Germany as a power engine of the EU, because only in case of mutual friendship between Germany and Russia could the EU emerge as an independent player in the world geopolitical arena. Nowadays such scenario I reckon profoundly damaged. However, in previous two cases when relations between Germany and Russia plummeted, world war had been sparked. So anyone in the UK who hopes to slip between the raindrops might have made a bad mistake, for clearly their military expedients are now in very bad state.
Boris Johnson, as it’s now widely known, sabotaged Istanbul peace agreements and urged Ukraine to continue the war as long as it takes to preserve Zelensky’s power. In this, I think, he inadvertently (?) repeated the mistake of Pericles, who advised the Athenians not to revoke the Megarian Decree. It didn’t come out well for Pericles, Athens, or Boris.
