New European football season is rolling out to the launch pad. Behind the fog of infowar between Russia and collective West you may have missed special military operation of Turkey (NATO’s enfant terrible, but still a full member of the Alliance since early years of Cold War I) in Iraq (Pençe-Kilit Operasyonu) and Syria. This started in April, intensified a few days ago, in June, when, if ever, come perfect days for open air sports, and nonetheless I have yet to hear from international sports authorities (IOC, UEFA, FIFA etc.) about any form of cancelling towards Turkish teams and individual athletes. In Russian case, already on the first day of the invasion UEFA Champions League final was transferred from St. Petersburg, not long after Russian football clubs and national team were banned from international competitions indefinitely, and so on, and on it goes.

And the very next UEFA Champions League final will take place in Turkey, at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
