The question is, as in the times of Roman or Holy Roman Empires, or the Third Reich for that matter, whether the space so diverse and unequal even needs a forced haphazard unification under the umbrella of faceless bureaucrats, all things considered.
The answer seems a resounding NO. At the very least, for nations on the Eastern periphery of the EU European integration clearly brings much more evil than good, with a sole possible exception of Poland, whereto the local center of political and military gravity is shifting from the withering Germany.
