The Civil Siege

A mere month and a half ago, Civil War by Alex Garland looked like a moderately original 10-minutes-in-the-future dystopia tailored for devout fans of Tom Clancy’s The Division series.

However, Civil War has been since shifted on earlier date of premiere.

Today the time has come to recall ships, sealing wax, cabbages, kings for a day, and one forgotten gem about Arab terrorists who would be (supposedly) solely responsible for series of large-scale bombings in New York. Three years later 9/11 and the Patriot Act transpired.

Moviegoers of yore, obviously, didn’t fear spoilers. They were innovative and resourceful.

So should be we.

They never stopped thinking about new tools of “razor-sharp sociopolitical commentary”, even though, for example, CRT then meant dominant TV/computer screen technology, while BLM worked fulltime on land management.

And neither should we.
