Spot on. Their only realistic chance to turn the tide in the Senate and evade trifecta defeat could have been (not counting possibilities from the realm of high fantasy, e.g., competent, clever, astute, and cunning Biden-Harris-Blinken policy) granting Puerto Rico and DC the state status, thus creating additional Senate chairs.

Now after the 5/11 Dems debacle, they face the prospect of further electoral losses in swing states and/or retiring Senators from the states previously considered safely Blue: note crimson red shifts during Presidential elections in such Dems’ citadels as California, New York, or Delaware, and it looks like a decrease in numbers of voters who fear of splitting their preferences. All of this, of course, is just €0.05 from me as an armchair analyst, for I’m a foreigner.
