Speaking about Tenochtitlan: I, generally, don't support any forms of critical race theory, post-colonial victim syndrome weaponization etc., but, indeed, what Conquistadores did with this marvelous city should always be counted as one of the heaviest, most heinous and wicked crimes in all written history of humankind.

Suffice is to say, that even today Mexico City suffers from lack of water and soil liquefaction, especially during seismic events; this is directly caused by destruction of Aztec ancient dams, sewage system and lake chain, which all collapsed during Spanish conquest and were never rebuilt properly.

Despite some obvious “excesses” of Mesoamerican indigenous cultures, including, but not limited to, flowery wars and disgusting human sacrifices, the sheer scale of genocide that Europeans unleashed upon Latam lands was such that even CO2 concentration in the atmosphere of Earth somewhat dropped: conquests led to the abandonment and secondary succession of ca. 56 million hectares of land, hence notable decline in atmospheric CO2 between 1520 CE and 1610 CE as seen in Antarctic ice core records.
