Sense of touch, no sense of reason

New Mac event in ages, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2014 touch bar reinvented. LG 5K display becoming official dock station for MacBook Pros instead of Apple Thunderbolt monitor.

Needless to say that MacBooks and iPhones/iPads target different audiences. MacBooks, except maybe 12" model, are somewhat better suited for content creation and business fleets, even in such former enemy citadels as IBM, where Macs steadily but relentlessly excoriate Wintel machines. OTOH iPhones and iPads pursue needs of content consumption and thus are much more prone to planned obsolescence; they’re also slower to implement innovations. Look at Sharp Corner R or Xiaomi Mi Mix: iPhone 8 is obsolete before arrival next to them, while very likely based on concepts like these.

Nonetheless, font rendering remains Apple’s best-in-class feature heretofore. Something I can’t deny.
