Perhaps Aeschylus will come in handy, so I allow myself to modernize a strophe from his Persians a bit.

Well, may this realm of Russia come in ruth

For those her random chosen, misspent youth;

Gas leaked and burnt, and not yet paid; so many dead

Remain where they’ve been hurled without guilt in fret.

Aeschylus also noted that man’s road towards destruction is often served by ready transportation. Thank gods for that.
