Old man Andrew sat at the train station where cats came to die. He had counted seventeen since February. The cats would arrive, mostly at night, walking slowly between the shattered concrete pillars. The station hadn’t seen trains for months now, not since the shells started falling.

Overall, a fine text, it reminds me somewhat about Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami, namely, old man Nakata searching for a lost cat and interacting with cat murderer. I recommend to post here Russian/Ukrainian version as well.
