Neutral Dune filter

I chuckled when they announced gender swapping for Liet Kynes. And again, when, judging from official trailer, it came to substitution of jihad by crusade. (However, irrelevantly from suspected Fremen culture whitewashing I’d like to note that the very idea about a bunch of desert partisans, strictly adapted to harsh conditions, conquering the Known Universe with flying colours when spearheaded by messiah, seems upscaled from Umayyad conquests without significant structural changes, of which should be quite a few when transplanted into space. Space, after all, is not an ocean, nor it is a desert.)

There’s something in the air whispering to me that a lot of Dune-themed art visualizations from Pinterest or DeviantArt will turn out closer to spirit of the book than movie itself.

General lack of bright, spicy Arrakis colours and raygun gothic imperial luxury is among my main complaints here. Dune shouldn’t be filmed through ND filter.
