NATO exists not for providing solutions of complex international military and political problems, but to create the latter ones.
Today the war between NATO and Russia remains something from the realm of self-fulfilling prophecies that could be, in principle, avoided. But so could be avoided the destruction and division of Ukraine, not long ago.
War with Russia fulfills the best wishes of NATO military-industrial complex, but only till the moment said war ceases to be virtual, or proxy.
True wet dream for the US military complex. Free advertisement / actual combat experience for weapons platform, by cost of Ukraine and possibly the entire Eastern Europe lured into the trap of the so-called European integration.
To be honest, Ukrainian army officers already have sufficient skill for teaching in NATO military academies. Yet another point in support of theory that neither Ukraine really needs NATO membership, nor the Alliance is ready to integrate it in something besides third-party lukewarm support.
But then again, I wonder how would the US react if Mexico, Guatemala, or Nicaragua decided to join Collective Security Treaty Organization? Something tells me that in such hypothetical scenario the right of these countries to choose their own destiny would not be respected.
