In this spring’s remake of 1989 Pet Sematary, itself based on the 1983 book, Vic Pascow has his skintone tanned from white to black and becomes, so to speak, one of Us. I don’t reckon producers trying to bring an element of comedy there, and then again, this is a pretty small change next to children roleswap, but the ageless, then-contemporary, commentary by Eddie Murphy seems strikingly appropriate.
