I recommend you to sample The Hydrogen Sonata by Iain M. Banks. The utterly brilliant letter to the future about consequences of the then-budding (2012–13) Brexit poll initiative if gone awry. Albeit flawed as a whodunit crime fiction, this is, to me, the greatest British science fiction thriller-meets-social commentary of the century.
